Stroud's offers it up "family style." We were curious "family-style" like Basque restaurant
seating where "everyone" is seated together at long picnic tables? Unfortunately, not so. However, they
will seat you, as they do solo business people and out-of-towners, at your very own table and ply you with you
very own dishes served family-style.

Weston
Avalon Cafe (816) 640-2835; 608 Main Street; Weston, Missouri
Amenities: If you stroll through Weston on a Monday, you may see chef/owner David Scott out tending his
garden of herbs and flowers.
Even though it's his day off, stop and chat. A sucker for solo diners, he'll fill you in on what to do around
town (and invite you back!).
His restaurant attracts solo tourists and business types, many of whom are guests at the Bed and Breakfasts
that flourish here.
Housed in an historic 1840's home, the dining rooms measure 16'x16'. "It's no surprise everyone gets to
talking," Scott said.
His wine-tasting dinner parties are also convivial and attract hearty numbers of solos. 70-100 guests are seated
at big tables accommodating 10-12. (One guest so enjoys the company, she makes the three hour drive alone from
Omaha!)
Cuisine: Concocted by a French cuisine-trained chef who dotes on farm-fresh ingredients
